Job Title: Crew Member

Department: Operations Reports To: Crew Leader Location: On-Site Job Type: Full-Time/Seasonal

Job Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Crew Member to join our team in the field of environmental stewardship and sustainability. In this role, you will assist in implementing and carrying out various environmental stewardship activities, including habitat restoration, invasive species management, native plantings, and general conservation efforts. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to environmental protection, work well in a team setting, and be eager to contribute to preserving and restoring natural ecosystems.

Responsibilities:

●Environmental Projects: Assist in the implementation of environmental stewardshipprojects, including erosion control, native plant restoration, and invasive speciesmanagement.

●Fieldwork: Participate in physical fieldwork such as planting, weeding, seeding, and tree planting, ensuring high-quality standards and sustainability.

●Tool and Equipment Maintenance: Properly use and maintain a variety of tools and equipment, including hand tools, power tools, and machinery, ensuring they are in good working condition and used safely.

●Environmental Monitoring: Assist with the collection of data on project progress,reporting observations to the Crew Leader.

●Site Preparation: Prepare and maintain sites for restoration, planting, or clean-up,ensuring areas are cleared of debris and properly prepared for work.

●Safety Compliance: Adhere to safety protocols and regulations, ensuring the safety of yourself and your team members. Wear appropriate personal protective equipment(PPE) and use tools and machinery safely.

●Collaboration and Teamwork: Work closely with fellow crew members to accomplish project goals and ensure efficient workflows. Contribute to a positive, collaborative team environment.

●Reporting and Documentation: Assist in documenting progress on environmental projects, including taking notes on work completed, time spent, and any issues or challenges encountered.

Requirements:

●

Education:Degree in Horticulture, Ecology, or related field, or 2+ years relevant experience●Physical Fitness: Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including carrying up to 50 pounds (backpack sprayer), working in various weather conditions, and engaging in outdoor labor for extended periods.●Skills: Basic knowledge of environmental stewardship practices is a plus. Comfortable with using basic landscaping or fieldwork tools (e.g., shovels, rakes, pruning shears).●Team-Oriented: Strong teamwork skills with the ability to follow instructions, work collaboratively, and contribute positively to group efforts.●Communication: Ability to communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and stakeholders. Willingness to learn and share information about environmental stewardship practices.●Licensing : Willingness and ability to obtain a Commercial Pesticide Applicator License within 45 days of hire●Safety Awareness: Understanding of safety practices and ability to adhere to safety regulations and guidelines during fieldwork.●Travel: Some jobs require overnight stays. Sites are in MO and IL.●Schedule- 4 x 10 hour days

Preferred Qualifications:

●Experience working in outdoor environments or previous volunteer work related to conservation or landscaping.

●Knowledge of local flora and fauna, including invasive species and native plants.

●Familiarity with basic environmental monitoring tools (e.g., GPS, field notebooks, or environmental testing kits).

●Certification in first aid or CPR.

●Ability to operate basic machinery (e.g., chainsaws, tractors, or power tools).

●Ability to work weekends, travel with per diem, and overtime as needed
